Delightfully Playful Fuchsias

Fuchsia Buds

This week, I’m again trying to complete the 2019 World Watercolor Month. The reason is not for competition, or for compliments, but rather to develop a practice that is so enjoyable and fun that I want to continue.

Last year, I wasn’t able to finish because my aim was too high, attempting to complete a “finished” painting every day. This time, my goal is more reasonable – I will paint “studies” every day. My plan is to paint fuchsias every day, since they are abundant, easily seen from my front porch, and because I love to look at them!

So far, I’ve managed to paint for six days in a row, and I’ve already learned from it. I especially love the center image, painted with a dry brush technique, and from memory after several days of drawing and painting from direct observation.

Here are my fuchsias so far ~ see you next week!
