Bridging Worlds through Creativity

Resisting

After two weeks traveling and another two weeks recovering, I have been feeling quite disconnected from my creative pursuits. I’ve stayed away from my studio and writing for this blog. But the drive to paint is returning, especially after playing with encaustic and mixed media last weekend. Thanks to Linda Robertson and her wonderful studio offerings, this image was created using hot wax on Encausticbord, using ink and a stamp I pressed from boxwood and other leafy greens, pan pastels, and walnut ink drawn using a twig. Limiting the palette to 4 colors was helpful, reduced the stress selecting colors, and seemed to generally simplify the process. Do you ever find yourself in a place of resistance or avoidance, and if you do, how do you get back out of it? What are your tried and true methods of return…?
