Knock Knock. Who’s there? Theresa. Theresa who? Theresa Green!

Knock-knock jokes are totally silly. I’ve remembered that one since I was a kid. My best friend’s name was Terry. Short for Theresa. And whenever one of us needed a little distraction, we’d play knock-knock jokes. Some of them even came from those small Dixie bathroom cups. Remember those? Anyway, I’d mix this one in every once in a while, so she’d not really expect it. And yeah, she would roll her eyes, but it always made me smile. She’d smile, too.

This weekend, I’ve been following along with Marla Baggetta’s Painting Trees in Pastel workshop, and thought I’d post the first four field sketches. I know, they aren’t actually green trees. And, well, they’re not quite “field sketches.” But I definitely sketched them from my own photographs. Actual trees that I saw and fell in love with. I’m using just regular sketchbook paper with a ball point pen – one of Marla’s favorite sketching tools. They’re readily available – right? Free. And easy to use. To be honest, I’ve come to like them myself.

What’s your favorite knock-knock joke?

Beautiful,,.I love trees and the thought of doing this is inspiring.. Thank you! I took a picture of our peepers in the pond and it reminded me of a Money…I was wondering about a mixed media to show the reflection of the sky and trees in the pond that showed peepers half under water and oak leaves floating on top. .only nature could capture all those dimensions of underwater, on the water, and reflecting in the water…wat too complex for me! Your post brought me to something that is possible rather than overwhelming ..so I just may give it a whirl! 🤸
Knock knock.. who’s there? Euripides. Euripides who? Euripides pants, and I’ll kill you..( back when kids could say kill and would laugh at a hole in the pants!)$

Oh, and I think MC Escher did a line drawing and maybe a painting of those multiple worlds of deep underwater, surface, and above. I’ll see if I can find it.

Lovely sketches. Quite elegant. They’ve inspired me! I’ve always been too impatient to render a tree close to anything that pleased me, but I’m going to give it another try.

I’ve also been inspired by the book you recommended to me, Trees in a Winter Landscape.
